One of my earliest childhood memories in a free Romania after 1989 has to do with films on cassette tapes!

I would go to the renting shop and look at the list of film-names and genres (yes, a lot of karate films…) and pay to book one, that I would take home, insert in the video cassette recorder and watch with my family.

The Translator per se, of almost all of these films, was Irina Margareta Nistor, a national treasure as far as I am concerned. She would dub the movies in Romanian and thus, open a door for us towards a world we had not experienced before.

I met her again, today, for the national day celebration, in Cotroceni!

La mulți ani, României noastre europene!
