Happy to attend last evening’s CONAF Romania event, in the framework of the 3 Seas Initiative and 3SI Business Forum 2023, focused on female entrepreneurship.

Many women still do not have a seat at the table – from the classroom to the boardroom, and from the decision making-kitchen table to the corridors of power. Multiple economic, cultural and social barriers and gender stereotypes – from men and women alike – continue to hinder women’s participation in all walks of life. This is a universal struggle, over which no country or region of the world has yet truly triumphed.

We have to ensure that women can make the rightful contribution to the livelihoods of their families and wider communities. Because more balanced groups make better decisions – and a more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous society for all.

When women are elected to political office, policies are more varied and gender-sensitive. Health, education and social welfare improves. And there’s also progress in terms of good governance and the fight against corruption. When more women are active in the business environment, the sector becomes more inclusive and fair.

A big thank you to Cristina CHIRIAC and her team for organising this event and for being an active actor and promotor of women rights in the business environment. The business environment, companies and employees in the region have proven resilience to the overlapping crises of the last period, thus becoming some of the pillars of 🇪🇺 European resilience, especially in the context of the multiple and prolonged disruptions generated by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Pleasure to join HE Ambassador Georgette Mosbacher, Co-Chair Three Seas Programming at Atlantic Council and Mihai Alexandru GHIGIU!
