- All of humanity desires peace, but the social and political reality in the immediate vicinity shows us that war is still a current issue. What are the main arguments why Romania should invest in the defense industry?
Let us start with a certainty: the European Union, and implicitly Romania, is facing an unprecedented security threat, amplified by heightened geopolitical unpredictability. We must be able to defend Europe and have the necessary capabilities to do so. And we must rapidly strengthen our defense resources. In this regard, in March, the European Commission presented the White Paper on European Defense and the ReArm Europe/Readiness 2030 Plan , an ambitious defense package that provides financial instruments to support Member States in a major wave of investment in defense capabilities. The objective of this package is twofold: in the short term, to respond to the urgency of supporting Ukraine, and in the long term, to strengthen Europe’s security and defense.
